Following their participation in a Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony today (Tuesday), Panamanian Foreign Minister Janaina Tewaney and her delegation came to the Western Wall along with Israel's Ambassador to Panama, Itai Bardov.
The visitors were greeted by the rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, who explained to the foreign minister about the significance of the Western Wall for the Jewish nation throughout the generations and the importance of prayer at this sacred site.
Minister Tewaney noted that she is in contact with the Panamian Jewish communities and had visited the Western Wall last year at the time of Holocaust Remembrance Day and was very moved by this.
At the end of the visit, Minister Tewaney said a personal prayer and placed a note between the stones of the Western Wall, concluding with "Next year in Jerusalem."
