A number of suspects fired fireworks towards Israeli vehicles that were crossing Highway 55, adjacent to the Palestinian Arab town of Azzun, located east of Qalqilya.
According to a statement from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, IDF soldiers arrived at the scene and started searching for the suspects, during which several suspects hurled firebombs at the soldiers.
The soldiers responded with live ammunition.
“We are aware of reports stating that some of those suspects were injured. No IDF injuries were reported, damage was done to the military vehicle that was dispatched to the scene,” the IDF statement said.
On Wednesday, Israeli security forces captured two terrorists on suspicion of carrying out the murder on Monday of 26-year-old dual American-Israeli citizen Elan Ganeles.
In a joint operation of the IDF, Shin Bet internal security agency, and the Border Police, the two suspects were apprehended, following a siege on a building in the Aqabat Jabr camp just south of Jericho.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said one terrorist was shot during the operation.
