A teenager has been charged with harassment for threatening a Maryland Jewish center during Hanukkah last year.
According to police, the teen made threatening antisemitic phone calls to the Jewish Rockville Outreach Center at the beginning of the holiday, the Montgomery Daily Voice reported.
He was described as a 17-year-old resident of Montgomery County.
The suspect faces harassment charges for the phone calls, officials announced on Thursday.
Montgomery County Police said that on December 20, 2022 they followed up on a call by the Jewish Rockville Outreach Center about the incident. Once at the center, a staff member told officers that someone had called multiple times and made antisemitic threats.
Detectives determined that the alleged caller was the 17-year-old teen who lives in the area.
Police recommended to the Department of Juvenile Services that the teen be charged with telephone misuse.
