Just hours following the murderous terror attack on Friday night in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem, which claimed the lives of seven people, a grandson was born to Rafael Ben Eliyahu, who was murdered in the attack.
Rafael was laid to rest in a ceremony that was attended by hundreds in the Har Hamenuchot cemetery in Jerusalem.
His 22-year-old son, Or, eulogized him and told those present about the grandson who was born after the attack: "We went from a Kiddush (celebratory meal) to Kaddish (mourners prayer). Dad, you have a grandson who was born yesterday. Your great soul will be with that boy. You stopped your car and got out. You called the police, and you didn't even get a chance to hang up. With one bullet, he took you from me. What a tragedy for us. I will never forget you—what a cruel evening. I have a hole in my heart. Half of my heart has left. You will be with me with every breath."
Rafael's 14-year-old son was severely injured in the attack, but his condition has improved since then. He is hospitalized in full consciousness at the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem.
