National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir arrived in southern Israel on Thursday morning in order to take a closer look at the governance problems in the Negev and the activities of the police on the matter.

During the visit, Minister Ben Gvir toured the streets of Be'er Sheva as well as the Big Mall located in the city, spoke to citizens of Be'er Sheva and asked them about their sense of security.

Two girls told the minister, "We never go out alone. Always with our partner. In the evening it is not possible for a woman to go out alone, only with another friend or while talking to someone on the phone. It happens many times on the road that suddenly someone honks or cuts you off and they commit all kinds of traffic offenses which is the scariest. They allow themselves to do whatever they want."

Another resident of the city also told the minister, "I think you being elected was an excellent choice. You deserve it, because you do it with all your heart. We've seen it all along and I think it's time to make the change."

Minister Ben Gvir replied, "I am looking you in the eye and promising you one thing, I will fight for you. I promise to try to do everything I can to bring security. We have a strong police force that is constantly working for your security. With God's help, we will restore security to the south."

Minister Ben Gvir will stay in Be'er Sheva overnight and will continue his work in the area on Friday as well, until about two hours before the start of Shabbat.
