National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir on Tuesday held a meeting with Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai and senior officials of the Israel Police and the Ministry of National Security. The meeting dealt, among other things, with the planned left-wing demonstrations against the government.

On the protests, the Minister of National Security asked to ensure that Israel Police officers will not be harmed or beaten by demonstrators.

The police representatives clarified that the preparation is being done in such a way that will allow the exercise of freedom of speech and protests within the framework of the law, but that harming of police officers will not be allowed.

It was further clarified that, to the extent that there are violations of the law or disturbances during the protests, the police will act within the scope of their powers according to the law, and the police will not show patience when it comes to injury to police officers and will not allow wild incitement, especially one that uses Nazi symbols.

Attendees at the meeting also discussed the release of the terrorist Karim Younes and the expected release of his accomplice in the murder of the soldier Avraham Bromberg, which will take place in a few days.

It was decided that the Israel Police will act using all the legal tools at its disposal and will not allow support and encouragement of terrorism or acts of support for terrorist organizations or identification with acts of terrorism. In such a case, the Israel Police will act to prevent the violation of the law and bring the perpetrators to justice.
