A US official has responded to the recent judicial reform presented by Israel’s Justice Minister Yariv Levin last week.
According to Barak Ravid (Axios and Walla News), a State Department official stressed “the importance of Israel’s independent institutions for its thriving democracy” in response to the revealed plan.
“Israel’s independent institutions are crucial to upholding the country’s thriving democracy, and our shared democratic values are at the heart of our bilateral relationship,” the official said.
According to the report, US officials say that the planned Israeli judicial was among the issues discussed during internal meetings at the White House and State Department on drafting the policy towards the new Israeli government.
