MK Eli Avidar (Yisrael Beytenu) called on the Arab sector to be more politically involved in order to take a position in the government.

In an interview with the Arabic language Nas Radio, Avidar said that Arab society should have a voice in the government, and that today, for the first time since 1948, a reality has been created whereby it is not possible to form a government without an Arab party.

Avidar claimed that many Arab voters, worth up to five Knesset seats, did not vote at all in the last election when they had the opportunity to vote for the Communist party (Hadash), the separatist (Balad), the nationalist [arty (Ta'al) or the Islamic (Ra'am) party.

He sided with the idea of the predominantly Arab Joint List supporting the current government in order to allow its survival.

Commenting on the political crisis, Avidar said that the problem with the Yamina party started from day one. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, he claimed, dealt with matters in the international arena and did not control his party.

Avidar also said that in the current political reality, Benjamin Netanyahu cannot form a government even if three MKs from Yamina defect to the Likud, and in any case he should not be allowed to return to the post of Prime Minister because of the indictment filed against him.
