A total 1,775 new coronavirus cases were diagnosed Friday, Israel’s Health Ministry said Saturday night.

The new cases, which bring the nationwide number of active cases to 11,590, include 149 hospitalized coronavirus patients, 90 of whom are in serious condition or worse. Nearly 82% of those patients with serious cases or worse have not received even a single dose of a coronavirus vaccine.

Those include 41 whose condition is critical, 34 who are intubated, and 15 who are hooked up to ECMO (heart and lung) machines.

The percentage of positive tests out of all the COVID-19 test results received Friday rose significantly from previous days, reaching 1.82%. On Wednesday, just 1.44% of coronavirus test results were positive.

At the same time, the infection coefficient is now at 1.4, showing a significant expansion of the scope of infections.

In the past week, six people have died of coronavirus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 8,241.
