For several years now, national-religious communities throughout Israel have been holding the Independence Day prayers outside, in public venues. The reason is their desire to "publicize the miracle" (pirsumei nissa), just as the Jewish people is commanded to do on that other holiday of restored sovereignty - Chanukah.
