(IsraelNN.com) On a cold night in early 1997, IDF soldiers prepared to enter southern Lebanon by helicopter. For reasons that remain unclear, two helicopters collided while waiting for clearance to continue. Seventy-three soldiers were killed.

The father of one victim, Tomer Kedar, created a memorial nature park in southern Israel in memory of his son, his son's close friend and fellow victim Tom Kitayin, and the other 71 soldiers killed in the crash.
