Cyprus’ drug enforcement unit launched an investigation following intelligence indicating an alleged operation to import and distribute drugs using luxury yachts. According to police suspicions, the drugs were transported through the ports and marinas of Larnaca and Limassol.
Following the intelligence, police detained two couples: an Israeli citizen and a Palestinian citizen, each accompanied by his wife. The four suspects were brought before a court in Limassol, which approved a police request and ordered that they remain in custody for eight days.
During a raid on the home of the 53-year-old Israeli suspect in a settlement near Limassol, police officers found 34 grams of cocaine, 246.5 grams of ketamine, and more than €4,000 in cash.
Meanwhile, detectives searching the home of the 50-year-old Palestinian suspect discovered a much larger quantity of drugs, including 126 kilograms and 630 grams of ketamine.
