Leaders of the Yesha Council visited the Central Command headquarters in Jerusalem this week for a special gathering held together with the command’s senior leadership, which included an updated security assessment and a toast ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
The meeting was attended by Central Command Commander Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, commanders of the divisions operating in the sector, and representatives of the various security agencies responsible for the area.
During the discussion, security assessments were presented ahead of the Tishrei holidays. Bluth devoted a significant portion of his remarks to the cooperation between local leaders, the IDF, and law enforcement and security agencies.
Bluth said that this coordination constitutes a critical component of the operational ability to thwart terrorist attacks, establish governance, and enable residents of the region to maintain a normal and active daily routine.
“The partnership between us is what enables terrorism prevention, it is what creates governance and law enforcement, and it is what makes possible the principle: civilians live their routine, while terrorists encounter the military," Bluth said.
He addressed those present and warned against efforts aimed at creating divisions between the various systems, noting that such attempts directly undermine the effectiveness of operations on the ground. He reiterated the great responsibility borne by both military commanders and elected officials in leading the region.
Binyamin Regional Council head and Yesha Council chairman Yisrael Ganz said following the event: “We have concluded a situation assessment with the heads of the local authorities and the Central Command commander ahead of the holidays. This is a good opportunity to say thank you, on behalf of the residents, to the IDF soldiers who protect us and assist in the momentum of settlement.
“There is no doubt that the military is prepared and ready, together with the security forces in the communities, whom we should also take this opportunity to thank.
“With God’s help, we will work together so that this will be a year of settlement, growth and development. A safe year, a year in which the military will defeat all our enemies and all our soldiers will return home safe and healthy."
