The Likud announced on Tuesday that Talik Gvili, the mother of fallen Yassam officer SFC Ran Gvili, will be included on its slate in the upcoming Knesset elections.
Ran Gvili set out to battle the invading terrorists on October 7th even though he was injured, and managed to save many lives. He fell in battle, and terrorists abducted his body to the Gaza Strip. His body was returned in Operation Brave Heart. He was the last captive to return to Israel.
A statement from the party discussed Talik's activism while her son was being held in Gaza, stating that she and her family demonstrated "extraordinary strength, deep faith, and determination that did not break even in the most difficult moments."
The party further stated that Gvili works to memorialize her son and publicize the story of his heroism, love for the country, and Zionist values. The Likud described her as a "symbol of strength, dedication, and commitment to the State of Israel," and added that she turned her personal story into public service.
Earlier in the day, the Likud announced that Elisha Medan, who was critically wounded in a battle in Beit Hanoun and lost both his legs, will be on the Likud's slate for the upcoming Knesset elections.
Medan is one of the founders of the community of Avigail in the Hebron Hills. He is married to Miriam and the father of six. He will be assigned to the number 11 spot on the Likud list, which was reserved for a candidate of Netanyahu's choosing.
Medan was wounded during an operation in the northern Gaza Strip, in an incident in which four of his fellow soldiers were killed. Since then, he underwent a lengthy rehabilitation process, during which he would often share his personal story with soldiers, youth, and communities countrywide.
