An indictment was filed Monday morning at the Nof HaGalil-Nazareth Magistrate's Court against 19-year-old terrorist Yaqoub Shibli, a resident of the town of Shibli, following a joint investigation by the Northern District Central Unit and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), which found that he had joined the ISIS terrorist organization.
The terrorist was arrested approximately three weeks ago by Israel Police and the Shin Bet. The investigation found that he had openly expressed identification with the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization, viewed content produced by the organization, and pledged allegiance to it.
Upon completion of the investigation, the Northern District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment charging him with membership in a terrorist organization.
This is the fourth indictment filed in recent days against Arabs from northern Israel for identification with and support for ISIS.
On Wednesday, an indictment was filed with the Haifa Magistrate's Court against Khamis Suwaed, a resident of Hussniyya in his 30s.
According to the investigation, Suwaed identified with ISIS, viewed instructional materials on combat, weapons, and missile and drone production, and underwent training with the aim of joining the terrorist organization’s fighting forces abroad.
The indictment also noted that from 2023 until his arrest this past August, Suwaed, who previously served in the IDF, developed a growing interest in ISIS and an ideological identification with the terrorist organization.
In 2024, he decided to travel to Syria or Africa and join ISIS. To that end, he viewed content and lectures by senior members of the organization and saved money for the trip.
Over the past year and until his arrest, Suwaed downloaded manuals and watched videos on manufacturing missiles and drones, using weapons, and military tactics, with the aim of advancing the organization's activities.
