Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is working to bring down the Iranian regime and that Israel’s various systems are operating under his direction to achieve that goal. He made the remarks in an interview with Naveh Dromi on i24NEWS.
Drori accompanied Netanyahu throughout a day that included preparations at his Jerusalem office, a helicopter flight to southern Israel, a security briefing at the Gaza Division and a tour of southern Israeli cities. During the interview, the Prime Minister addressed, among other issues, the campaign against Iran and the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Asked whether he was concerned that another Prime Minister might be dealing with the Iranian issue after the elections, Netanyahu replied, “That is the choice of the public." He went on to describe the steps taken, in his view, against Iran and the Axis of Evil, making clear that he does not consider the mission complete.
“My intention was that ultimately we would confront Iran, the head of the octopus, and cut off its tentacles," Netanyahu said. “Our pilots were there and can be there at any moment. We have not yet completed the mission."
The Prime Minister then made an explicit statement about the future of the Iranian regime. “We will defeat this regime. It will fall, we will bring it down. It is already standing on very shaky legs," he said.
Dromi asked Netanyahu whether Mossad Director Roman Gofman is working to bring down the regime in Iran. Netanyahu replied, “All of our systems, under my direction, are working to bring down this regime and defeat it."
Netanyahu also addressed the situation in the Gaza Strip, claiming that Israel currently has complete control over more than 60% of the territory. He said Israel must continue working to achieve the goals it has set there.
“The goal is dismantling, demilitarizing, evacuating where necessary, and also preventing Gaza from becoming a threat to Israel again," Netanyahu said. He added that this is a goal that “to a large extent has already been achieved."
