A man and a woman in their 70s were found unconscious Thursday evening in an apartment on Moshe Dayan Boulevard in Jerusalem’s Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood.

The couple were treated at the scene by Magen David Adom (MDA) teams and evacuated in serious condition to Hadassah Mount Scopus and Shaare Zedek hospitals. MDA medic Nadav Taib and paramedic David Levi said they found both residents unconscious and provided life-saving treatment. The man was sedated and placed on a ventilator before being transported to the hospital.

Firefighters were initially called to the apartment amid concerns that hazardous materials may have caused the incident. Fire and Rescue Service teams from the Merhav HaUma station conducted searches and monitoring checks inside the fourth-floor apartment.

Monitoring teams ultimately found no evidence of hazardous materials. The Fire and Rescue Service said that “the monitoring results show that no readings for hazardous materials were found at the scene," ruling out the initial suspicion.

Police from the Jerusalem District also arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
