MK Moshe Goldknopf, the representative of the Gerrer Hasidic movement in United Torah Judaism (UTJ), received the blessing of the Gerrer Rebbe and will continue to serve as the movement’s representative in the next Knesset.
The Hamodia newspaper, affiliated with the Gerrer Hasidic movement, described Goldknopf as “one of the best leading activists and officials that Agudat Israel has had for many years."
Goldknopf reflected on the outgoing Knesset term, saying, “The past term was difficult for the haredi community and unprecedented in its severity, despite the ‘full, full-right-wing’ government. Torah scholars are facing an extremely cruel campaign of persecution."
Regarding his conduct during the term, he said, “Throughout, I acted in complete obedience to the directives of the leading Torah sages. I immediately resigned from my government position and the coalition at their instruction."
Goldknopf added, “We all mourn the situation and regret that this is what has come upon us in our time. We must learn the lessons from what happened."
Looking ahead, he said, “By working together with all the representatives of United Torah Judaism, we will strive to make things right."
