Dozens of people participated in a show of support at the Taurus Smokehouse in the G Complex in Savyon overnight, following the owner’s assault by several women after he blew a shofar at the restaurant.
Activists from the Noam Yisrael Party arrived at the restaurant to show their support for the business owner and express solidarity with him. During the event, participants recited Selichot prayers, blew the shofar, and formed circles of singing and dancing in the spirit of the month of Elul.
Later, diners and restaurant employees also joined the dancing, which turned into a large-scale event of singing and solidarity. The DJ at the scene played faith-based music, and at the conclusion, participants gathered for a joint prayer for the safety of IDF soldiers and the security of the country.
The event took place against the backdrop of the incident that sparked widespread discussion on social media, in which the restaurant owner was assaulted after blowing the shofar at the establishment.
The Noam Yisrael Party said: “The attempt to silence the blowing of a shofar in the State of Israel only proves how important it is to fight for every Jew’s right to live their Judaism in the public realm. The Jewish people want a Jewish identity, and we will continue working to ensure the right to be free to be Jewish wherever one is."
