The Chief Rabbi of Safed and member of the Chief Rabbinate Council, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, addressed the judicial reform issue, describing the rectification of the judicial system as a Torah obligation and a foundation for redemption.

In a conversation with his son, Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, he was asked whether it would be appropriate to give up on the judicial reform and work toward the establishment of a unity government.

In his response, Rabbi Eliyahu rejected the possibility of abandoning efforts to change the judicial system, saying that this constitutes a Torah obligation.

“Fixing the judicial system is a Torah obligation," he said.

Rabbi Eliyahu also addressed the possibility of the left-wing bloc coming to power and warned that such a scenario would, in his view, lead to “a full dictatorship."

Referring to members of the bloc, he added, “They have no God."

According to Rabbi Eliyahu, the central test regarding the opponents of the judicial reform is their desire to rule. In his remarks, the rabbi linked the struggle over the judicial system to his Torah outlook and described its rectification as a foundation for redemption as well.
