Coalition Chairman MK Ofir Katz has declared that if Likud forms the next government, one of its central tasks will be to complete the judicial reform that was halted during the current Knesset term. According to Katz, the coalition did not go far enough in advancing the changes and will work to complete the legislation during the next term.

In an interview with Ynet’s “120 and One" podcast, Katz said that, in his view, the government had been overly cautious.

“We were too gentle and too soft by not going all the way," he said, adding that Likud intends to bring the stalled legislation back to the Knesset and continue the measures that were halted. “This time we won’t stop," he said.

Katz rejected the claim that the widespread public protests were what led to the reform being halted, arguing that the scale of the opposition had been exaggerated. According to him, the media inflated the size of the demonstrations, and some members of the coalition were deterred by the public pressure.

He further clarified that if Likud once again wins the public’s confidence and forms the next government, it will work to implement its policies by completing the judicial reform and advancing the legislation that was blocked during the current term, as part of what he described as carrying out the will of the voters in a democratic country.
