The Israel Dog Unit and the Israel Prison Service are strengthening their cooperation following a professional meeting between representatives of the two organizations at a prison facility in central Israel.

IDU director Yekutiel Ben-Yaakov, commander of the Israel Dog Unit, spoke with senior dog handlers and kennel managers from the Israel Prison Service during a professional conference focused on working dog operations.

During his address, Ben Yaakov discussed the operational cooperation between the two organizations, the challenges involved in locating missing persons, and the importance of professional dog handling in search and rescue operations. He also reviewed the Israel Dog Unit's activities in recent years, including its work searching for missing people.

"Our work and yours saves lives," Ben-Yaakov said. "Working dogs play a critical role both in emergencies and in routine operations. The exchange of knowledge and experience between the Israel Dog Unit and the Israel Prison Service strengthens both units and provides a better response to the citizens of Israel."

The meeting also included an exchange of professional knowledge and practical experience between dog handlers from the two organizations, with an emphasis on strengthening operational and managerial capabilities.

At the conclusion of the event, Eli Edery, commander of the Animal Training Center of the Israel Prison Service, presented Ben Yaakov with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Prison Service.

The certificate thanked the Israel Dog Unit for "the transfer of knowledge and practical insights that enriched the trainees of the kennel care course and team leaders and strengthened their managerial and professional abilities."
