The family of Rabbi Shalom Pinchas Burstein, who has served over the years in rabbinic and educational positions, has issued a public appeal to pray for his recovery.
"Please, O G-d, please heal him," the appeal stated. "We are all united in prayer for the complete recovery of our father, teacher and rabbi, Rabbi Shalom Pinchas, the son of Shushka Shoshana, who is in need of great Heavenly mercy."
Rabbi Burstein previously served as the rabbi of the IDF's Golan Division and as the head of a yeshiva in Hadera. He later established the Midreshet Hagalil Yeshiva in Migdal Ha'emek for immigrants from the former Soviet Union and served as its head.
In recent years, Rabbi Burstein has been active in and had an influence on yeshivas in the city of Tzfat. He is the eldest brother of Rabbi Menachem Burstein, Rabbanit Esther Levanon, and Rabbanit Ziva Schiller.
In their appeal to the public, his family asked, "Please increase your prayers, Torah study, and good resolutions for the rabbi who has devoted his entire life to the Torah, the people, and the Land."
