An urgent appeal from bereaved families belonging to the Gvura Forum was delivered to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of the Security Cabinet, demanding an unequivocal return to offensive operations to decisively defeat the terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip.
Forum members expressed deep concern over the situation on the ground, arguing that avoiding proactive attacks allows Hamas to exploit the pause, directly endangering IDF soldiers as well as residents of the Gaza envelope and southern Israel.
The families opened their letter by emphasizing that their appeal stems from briefings with officials on the ground and leadership within the political establishment: "We, bereaved families of the Gvura Forum, are writing to you out of deep concern over the current reality in Gaza. We have received information from senior officials in the field and at the political level, and unfortunately, the picture is clear: Israel is holding its fire and taking no initiative, while Hamas is thoroughly taking advantage of this in a series of incidents that, by sheer miracle, did not result in casualties among IDF soldiers."
The families went on to call for an immediate, full-force resumption of combat operations. "This situation cannot continue. We must immediately return to an offensive posture aimed at decisive victory," they wrote, adding: "Every minute Israel refrains from taking the initiative is another minute IDF soldiers remain at risk and residents of the South are left exposed to the threat."
The families also addressed ongoing diplomatic talks and the roadmap proposed by the Board of Peace, warning against further compromises. "At the same time, we are witnessing practical progress toward adopting the Board of Peace roadmap and returning to understandings with Hamas," the letter stated. The families warned that "this poses a dangerous return to the old mindset - the very same concept that led us to the disaster of October 7."
The Gvura Forum stressed that the fallen gave their lives so that the threat would be permanently neutralized, and that the families would not accept a return to temporary arrangements. "We, the bereaved families, cannot accept this. Our loved ones fell in battle so that the State of Israel would achieve a decisive victory over the enemy, not so that we would return to the reality that existed on the eve of the massacre," they wrote. "The blood that was spilled obligates us all to draw the necessary lessons and ensure that the threat is uprooted entirely."
The letter concluded with a direct call to the leadership to fulfill the objectives of the war. "Prime Minister, members of the Cabinet: You pledged to defeat Hamas, and we demand that you keep your word," they wrote, closing with a clear directive: "Seize the initiative, resume the offensive, and complete the mission for which we went to war: a decisive victory that guarantees the safety of IDF soldiers and the citizens of Israel."
