The Civil Administration’s Enforcement Unit carried out a large-scale enforcement operation in northern Samaria on Wednesday, demolishing dozens of illegal Palestinian structures located along roads and in areas near the towns of Ganim and Kadim.
The operation was conducted at the direction of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, ahead of the expected return of Israeli families to the area next week.
In addition to the demolitions near Ganim and Kadim, authorities demolished an illegal structure on approximately 850 square meters of land near the former town of Sa-Nur. The land had reportedly been brought under cultivation several months ago.
According to the Civil Administration, the enforcement campaign is part of the government’s policy to strengthen Israeli governance in Judea and Samaria and preparations to restore Jewish communities to northern Samaria in accordance with government decisions.
The operation comes ahead of the planned return to Ganim and Kadim, two of four northern Samaria communities evacuated approximately 21 years ago as part of the 2005 disengagement. The government approved the re-establishment of the communities following a Cabinet decision led by Smotrich.
Smotrich welcomed the demolitions, saying: “The demolition of illegal Palestinian structures that threatened towns in northern Samaria is an important and necessary step to strengthen settlement in Judea and Samaria, which serves as a security belt for the entire State of Israel."
He added: “The Eisenkot-Lieberman-Golan government will turn back the wheel and evict the towns and outposts we established. It is dangerous, and it is forbidden to allow this to happen."
