An 18-month-old girl drowned Thursday afternoon in a swimming pool at a private home in Ashkelon.
Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency teams who were called to the scene provided medical treatment and performed resuscitation efforts. However, after she was transported to Barzilai Medical Center, doctors were forced to declare her dead.
MDA said the toddler was unconscious, without a pulse, and not breathing when emergency crews arrived at the scene. She was evacuated to the hospital while CPR continued, with her condition listed as critical.
MDA paramedic Moti Shov and EMTs Roi Lasri and Gabriel Kucherenko said, "When we arrived at the private home, an approximately one-and-a-half-year-old girl was brought to us unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing."
They added: "We immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, assisted ventilation, and the administration of medication. While continuing CPR, we evacuated her to the hospital in critical condition as we fought to save her life."
