An unusual accident occurred this morning (Sunday) at New York’s JFK Airport, when a Japanese Airlines (JAL) plane collided while reversing with an Arkia Airlines aircraft, causing significant damage. The incident happened as the Japanese plane was being towed to its parking spot and struck the front of the Arkia plane, which at the time was preparing for takeoff to Israel.

According to reports, the collision caused substantial damage above the cockpit and around the wing area. The Arkia plane was empty at the time of impact, but as a result of the accident, the New York-Tel Aviv flight was delayed, and no new departure time has been announced so far.

Approximately 270 passengers to Israel, who were scheduled to board the flight are currently waiting in the JFK Airport terminal, with no clear estimate yet for when the flight will resume.
