The Israel Navy's naval cadet course was temporarily halted this week after about 40 cadets were diagnosed in recent days with skin symptoms - a result of prolonged exposure to salt water and crawling during the seamanship and naval command stage.

The IDF said the symptoms were detected in routine medical checks and led to immediate treatment for each of the cadets.

The cases were classified as very mild, but it was decided to stop the training for several days to allow full recovery and prevent further spread.

"The Navy's training clinic issued medical instructions to the course cadets to prevent transmission, including treatment and disinfection of their personal equipment, laboratory tests, and medical examinations for all who reported symptoms," the IDF said.

The cadets will be under close medical supervision until the skin lesions disappear completely.

The IDF clarified that this was an immediate response to local cases and that regular operations will resume soon, according to medical recommendations.
