Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Danny Danon on Friday commented on the passage of the "Palestinian Package" resolutions in the General Assembly, promising: "We will continue to fight for the truth. More countries are beginning to see reality as it is and act accordingly."

On Friday, the UN General Assembly passed six resolutions as part of the "Palestinian Package."

However, this year a clear trend stood out: a change in the voting patterns of member states, signaling a decline in traditional and unconditional support on anti-Israel resolutions and an expansion of countries that chose to oppose or abstain from each of the resolutions.

In the vote on the "settlements" issue, 146 countries voted in favor, 13 opposed and 17 abstained. In the vote on UNRWA activities, 145 countries voted in favor, 10 opposed and 18 abstained. In the vote on aid to "Palestinian refugees," 151 countries voted in favor, 10 opposed and 14 abstained.

In the vote on "property issues," the Palestinian Arabs were supported by 157 countries, 10 opposed and 9 abstained.

The vote on the committee investigating "Israeli actions" recorded a further decline: 88 countries supported the resolution, 19 countries opposed and 64 abstained.

The Golan Heights resolution also recorded a change in voting trends: 146 countries voted in favor, 6 opposed and 23 abstained.

Ambassador Danon said in response: "The voting patterns this year speak for themselves: More and more countries are no longer prepared to vote automatically as they did in the past. The numbers we see today indicate a clear change of direction in the international arena."

He added: "I thank the countries that stood by Israel and voted against these resolutions. This is an expression of courage and moral clarity. We will continue to work with our partners to ensure that UN mechanisms are based on facts and not on politics."
