Ministry of Religious Services Director-General Yehuda Avidan contacted Police Commissioner Major General Danni Levy on Wednesday, warning of a threat to the life of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.
The warning follows a request received from the office of the former Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef in which a citizen asked for his approval to harm Baharav-Miara.
"The rabbi's office warned of a threat that seems real and could immediately endanger the life of the Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara," the letter read.
Additionally, Rabbi Yosef instructed that the information be urgently forwarded to the police for investigation.
After receiving the letter, the police announced that they had opened an investigation following the discovery of a letter near a residential home in the city, which contained a clear threat to harm Baharav-Miara. The police noted an investigation was immediately launched, with the goal of locating the letter-sender.
