This morning (Tuesday), members of the Hagvura (Heroism) Forum sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, warning him of the consequences of a partial deal that allows Hamas to continue to hold hostages.
The letter follows reports of Hamas’s agreement to a partial deal that would not free all of the remaining hostages and Israel’s apparent willingness not to rule it out. In the letter, the forum members remind Netanyahu of his commitment to the war objectives and ultimate victory, and request another meeting to recall the wishes of their loved ones who fell in the war.
“For almost two years, the State of Israel has been in an existential war after the Hamas enemy murdered, raped, plundered, massacred, and abducted our brothers and sisters,” the bereaved parents began the letter.
“Our beloved heroes, who went to battle and did not return, became part of the rise of Israel and part of the chain of generations of heroes who gave their lives for the people and the land. You looked us in the eyes and repeatedly committed that this war would end in total victory, achieving all the objectives of the war,” they said.
They continued, “For many long months, Hamas has been playing us, conducting sham negotiations while humiliating the nation, all while continuing to hold our brothers in captivity under harsh conditions and life-threatening circumstances, and while a dangerous stagnation puts our heroic soldiers at risk. Enough. Enough with the humiliation, enough with endangering our soldiers. Now is the time - to win, to destroy Hamas, and to bring back our hostages. It has already been proven - only military pressure brings results.”
“Any halt now, for partial deals, will endanger the hostages, the soldiers, and Israel’s security. Do not give in to Hamas. The time has come for a decisive victory. In the name of our heroic loved ones, we call on you - stand bravely, do not surrender, and, God willing, the people of Israel will prevail,” they wrote.
In conclusion, they addressed Netanyahu: “We again demand to meet with you as soon as possible to remind you of the wishes of the fallen and to hear from you how you intend to act to fulfill them and achieve the objectives of the war.”
