Among the hundreds of families who accompanied their children to enlist in the Golani Brigade, the Rubin family stood out.
For the Rubin family, their son's induction day was more than just the start of a military service; it was the direct continuation of the legacy of Sergeant Amichay Rubin, who fell in the heroic battles of October 7th as a Golani soldier.
The father, Yishai Rubin, stood beside his recruit son, carrying with him the memory, but a sense of mission too.
"I was also a Golanchik (the moniker for a Golani soldier), and a few of his brothers were Golanchiks," Yishai said and shared that his son "is continuing an important path. He is doing the right thing. He has a lot of strength, and he will give it to the people of Israel."
He went on to share, "His older brother fell on October 7th in Golani. He continued on his path. We pray that G-d watches over him and all the soldiers."
Asked how a family that already paid the heavy price can send another son to combat service, Rubin answered simply, but faithfully: "Amichay, on October 7th, fought. He was severely injured and fought to keep going despite his injury. And his brothers continue in the same way. The brother who is enlisting now in the Golani is following him. Even when it hurts, keep going. Even when you're severely injured, keep going. This is the way."
At the end of the conversation, he admitted that, alongside the great pride, the family also feels natural concern: "Absolutely. Both pride and a lot of concern."
