Authorities in Aurora, Colorado, are searching for an individual responsible for vandalizing a local synagogue on Sunday night, according to local television station 9News.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m., was captured on surveillance footage. The suspect targeted the Ohr Avner Synagogue by hurling rocks at the building, resulting in shattered windows.
Law enforcement officials have released images of the suspect and are urging the public to provide any relevant information. The individual was last seen wearing a blue hoodie—possibly a North Face brand—along with blue jeans and brown or gray footwear.
This attack is not an isolated event, as congregants have previously reported instances of antisemitic harassment and violence.
"We've had a lot of scary stuff happen here in the previous years," said Yehuda Aminov, a member of the synagogue. "About 1.5-2 years ago we had somebody that tried to kidnap a child."
Aminov further disclosed that the community has been targeted by gunfire in the past, and many worshippers experience intimidation while walking home from prayer services.
Aminov, who immigrated to the US from Tajikistan, emphasized that despite these challenges, the Jewish community remains committed to staying in the neighborhood.
In response to security concerns, the synagogue is working to enhance its protective measures, including installing reinforced steel doors and constructing a perimeter fence.
