Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich sent a message of support on Sunday morning to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as he heads off to meet US President Donald Trump in Washington.
Smotrich emphasized the importance of the meeting and the challenges facing Israel. "Mr. Prime Minister, I send you my best wishes as you embark on this very important meeting with the President of the US, a friend of Israel, Donald Trump," Smotrich opened his remarks.
He highlighted the issues at hand, including the war against Hamas and the return of the hostages from Gaza: "A great deal is at stake – the complete victory in Gaza, the destruction of Hamas, and the return of all our hostages, securing our safety on all borders – with Syria, Lebanon, and of course against the head of the octopus, the Iranian regime and the nuclear threat. This danger must be removed."
He also commented on applying Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria: "We must strengthen our hold and sovereignty over our homeland in Judea and Samaria. We have such a small land – so, first, we must turn away from evil: we must not take Gaza and multiply the threat against us twentyfold right in the heart of our land. We must strengthen our hold and apply sovereignty in Judea and Samaria."
"From a stance of strength and from power – we make peace, forge alliances, and strengthen the status of the State of Israel," he said.
In conclusion, Smotrich stated: "Mr. Prime Minister, the entire people of Israel are behind you. For thousands of years, many generations, hundreds of combat soldiers who have given their lives for victory in this war, the bereaved families, and thousands of wounded soldiers – all expect you to faithfully represent our position. Go in peace, represent us with honor, and return in peace and strength – to absolute victory!"
