Ravid Katz, whose sister and two nieces were recently released from Hamas captivity as part of the prisoner swap, has been missing since the start of the war on October 7, when Hamas terrorists attacked towns near the Gaza border.

Katz, 51, was a member of the Nir Oz security chapter. He went out to fight for the kibbutz, battling Hamas terrorists, and after contact with him was lost, he was declared missing.

On Monday, his family was informed that his body had been identified, and that he had been murdered on the morning of October 7, by Hamas terrorists who infiltrated Israeli territory.

"Yesterday we received the bitter news that Ravid Katz is no longer among the living, following the events of October 7," the family said.

"Ravid lived in Kibbutz Nir Oz. He was an educator, and a man who loved the beautiful Land of Israel; an amazing father to Shachar and Shira, to little Alma, just six months old, and he was the partner of Revital. We will always remember him."

The Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum headquarters said, "We share the great sorrow of the Katz family following the murder of Ravid Aryeh Katz by Hamas. Ravid Katz, age 51, was a member of Kibbutz Nir Oz. He was an educator who worked for many years with all types of youth, from youth movements to youth at risk. He loved people and was a man of peace."
