The Montreal Jewish community is again facing a violent attack after gunshots were fired at a Jewish school in the city's west end several days after a similar incident.
According to Canadian public broadcaster CBC, Police say they received several calls about gunshots near Yeshiva Gedola of Montreal, located on Deacon Road in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood, at around 5 a.m. Sunday.
Officers say they found bullet holes in the building and shell casings on the ground nearby.
No one was injured, and no arrests have been made yet.
Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) spokesperson Véronique Dubuc says witnesses reported seeing a vehicle fleeing the scene at the time of the gunfire.
Dubuc said police cannot confirm if there was anyone inside the building at the time of the event.
A security perimeter has been set up for the investigation.
Last Wednesday, two Jewish schools in Montreal, Canada, were hit with gunshots overnight Wednesday.
Local police say they received a 911 call at 8:20 a.m. on Thursday regarding bulletholes found on the front door of a Jewish school located on Saint-Kevin Ave. in Côte-des-Neiges. Bullet casings were also located.
Authorities believe the gunshots were fired overnight. No one was in the building at the time of the shooting, and no one was injured.
A few minutes later, a 911 call was made about gunshot damage found on the front door of another Jewish school nearby on Chemin Deacon in Outremont.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned Wendsday's incident, writing: "The reports of overnight shootings at Jewish schools in Montreal are horrifying. I condemn these violent acts of antisemitism in the strongest terms possible – and I want to be clear: This hate has no place in Canada, and we must all stand united against it."
