Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian Arab protesters massed in Washington, DC, on Saturday afternoon before descending upon the White House where they chanted “Allahu Akbar” and “F**k Joe Biden”, The New York Post reported.
The protesters accused the President of genocide and demanded a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” chanted the crowd, who waved Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) flags. Others chanted, “Long live the Intifada,” according to the New York Post.
One man was arrested for destruction of property around 5:30 p.m. local time, police said.
Around 7:30 p.m., protesters were smearing red paint on the gates of the White House and chanting: “Allahu Akbar” and “F**k Joe Biden,” a Post reporter observed.
While the protest took shape in the nation’s capital, more than 1,000 pro-Palestinian Arab demonstrators blocked traffic in Manhattan’s Herald Square, demanding a ceasefire.
There were no incidents or arrests before the crowd dispersed without incident or arrests around 7:30 p.m., sources told The Post.
Biden recently came under fire after saying at a press conference he has "no confidence in the number that the Palestinians are using" for the death toll in the Gaza Strip.
Following those remarks, the President met a small group of Muslim American leaders at the White House, in a meeting which focused in part on efforts to combat Islamophobia.
