Jack Lew, the new US Ambassador to Israel, will land in Tel Aviv Friday morning, together with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Israel Hayom reported.

Lew, who is replacing former US Amb. to Israel Tom Nides, is expected to submit his credentials to Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Sunday.

Israel Hayom noted that while it usually takes several weeks from an ambassador's appointment until he officially takes on the role by handing in his credentials, due to the unique circumstances, Lew will begin his task less than a week after being confirmed by the US Senate.

Lew will arrive in Israel together with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and he will begin his role immediately, in an attempt to aid the war effort. Israel Hayom noted that Lew, 67, is a religious Jew and served as Treasury Secretary under former US President Barak Obama.

Blinken will be visiting Israel for the third time since Hamas' brutal attack on Israeli civilians on October 7, and he is expected to meet with Herzog, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and others, to discuss the US' support for Israel, efforts to release the hostages held by Hamas, and a possible break in the fighting.

Upon leaving Israel, Blinken will travel to Jordan and other countries in the region.
