Sirens sounded Thursday morning in Sderot, Ibim, Nir Am, Kissufim, and the Sapir College, a quarter of an hour after sirens sounded in Nir Oz.

Following this, Magen David Adom reported: "Following the recent Red Alert sirens that were activated in the Sderot region: MDA EMTs and paramedics have been dispatched and are currently treating two victims, a young woman approximately 20 years of age and a man around 30 years old, have been seriously injured due to shrapnel. They are being transferred to Barzilai Hospital for further treatment."

Later, it was reported that the young woman's condition is critical, and that two men, not one, were injured by shrapnel: One of the men is in serious condition, and the other's injuries were light.

Shortly afterwards, MDA reported that an ambulance near the site where the rocket fell had sustained damage.

"An MDA ambulance that was nearby suffered shrapnel damage. The MDA team and civilians who were in the street immediately took shelter and were not injured," a spokesman said.

MDA EMT Elor Twill added: "I was standing right by the ambulance when the siren began. I immediately called all the nearby civilians and a few seconds later we heard a loud noise of a rocket hit. We waited a few minutes as instructed by the Home Front Command in the shelter, then we went outside and saw that the ambulance had been hit. The fact that we followed the life-saving instructions of the Home Front Command saved us. This incident could have ended in tragedy."
