Israel's Holocaust Remembrance Day began this evening (Monday) with a special ceremony at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog will speak at the ceremony at Yad Vashem.

This year, Israel's commemorations will highlight the Jewish resistance in the Holocaust and mark the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

Tomorrow morning, at 10 am, a two-minute siren will be heard throughout the country. Millions of Israelis will stand in silence in memory of the six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust during the siren.

At 1 pm, a ceremony titles 'Everyone Has a Name' will be held. And at 8 pm tomorrow, a closing ceremony will be held at Kibbutz Lohamei Hagetaot, the 'Ghetto Fighter's Kibbutz.'

The public is also invited to light candles bearing the names of Holocaust victims at Yad Vashem between 11 am and 4:30 pm tomorrow.
