Tehran announced Wednesday morning that it shot down a drone aircraft Tuesday night, foiling an attempted strike on one of Iran’s military compounds.

According to a statement by the Iranian defense ministry, the drone strike targeted the defense ministry’s Amir-al-Mo’menin compound in the city of Isfahan Tuesday night.

Iran’s Tasnim media outlet reported that the attack was “repelled after the Iranian defense systems took action.”

The Iranian defense ministry claimed that no damage was done to its Isfahan facility.

On January 28th, Iran claimed that it had foiled a similar drone attack at a military complex in Isfahan, despite a large explosion being reported in the city.

In February, Iran's intelligence ministry said that it had arrested the "main actors" involved in the January 28th drone attack, which it attributed to Israel.

"The main actors of the failed attempt to sabotage one of the industrial centers of the Ministry of Defense in Isfahan were identified and arrested," Iran’s intelligence ministry and the intelligence organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a joint statement.

"Due to the ongoing investigation in the case of the arrested accused, additional information will be published at the appropriate time.”

"In short, the involvement of mercenaries of the temporary Zionist regime (Israel) in that action has been proven.”
