Former US President Donald Trump arrived at the courthouse in Manhattan Tuesday afternoon to face arraignment following the decision by a grand jury convened by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to indict him for allegedly making hush money payments to an adult film star during his 2016 campaign.
“Heading to Lower Manhattan, the Courthouse. Seems so SURREAL — WOW, they are going to ARREST ME. Can’t believe this is happening in America. MAGA!” Trump posted on his Truth Social network shortly before turning himself in to the court.
Yahoo News reported Monday night that Trump will face 34 felony charges in the indictment.
The former President is not expected to be in handcuffs when he enters the courtroom.
Trump supporters held demonstrations outside Trump Tower and the courthouse Tuesday against the indictment. Counter-demonstrators clashed with pro-Trump demonstrators outside the courthouse.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams yesterday said of the expected protests. "While there may be some rabble-rousers thinking about coming to our city tomorrow, our message is clear and simple: Control yourselves," Adams said. "New York City is our home, not a playground for your misplaced anger."
