Authorities in Bridgeport, Connecticut are searching for the individual who vandalized an apartment complex with swastikas, targeting a specific apartment.

Local police said they were notified that the Success Village Apartments, a cooperative housing complex, was defaced with swastikas on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., NBC Connecticut reported.

Officers who arrived at the scene found red two swastikas spray painted on the complex. One of them was on an apartment door. The other was on a storage container belonging to the person who lives in the apartment.

The incident is being investigated by the Bridgeport Detective Bureau as a hate crime.

"Intimidation based on bigotry or bias is a serious crime and it will not be tolerated at any level; organized or otherwise," Bridgeport police said in a statement.

They added that at this point in the investigation they believe the graffiti was the work of a lone individual and not an organized group.
