Justice Minister and New Hope Party chairman Gideon Sa'ar met on Thursday with former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot in an attempt to persuade him to join the united Blue and White-New Hope slate that is running in the November Knesset election.

Eizenkot is still considering whether to enter politics ahead of the upcoming election and will subsequently decide which party he will run with.

The former Chief of Staff has been courted so far by Benny Gantz and Gideon Sa'ar's party, as well as by the Yesh Atid and Labor parties.

Channel 13 News reported that in recent days the question has arisen whether Eizenkot disapproves of the "right wing" in the Blue and White-New Hope slate after the unification, in light of the fact that the new party will include Ze'ev Elkin and Sa'ar himself.

Officials at the party said, however, they do not believe the union will deter Eizenkot from joining Gantz and Sa'ar's new party.
