An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesperson hailed President Joe Biden’s first visit to Israel as president, touting it as proof that support for Israel in the US remains strong in both major political parties.
“This is an historic visit,” Elad Strohmayer, a spokesman of the Israeli Embassy in Washington told Israel National News Wednesday ahead of Biden’s arrival.
“It is reaffirming the strong ties and connections between Israel and the United States – bonds that are based on shared values, connections between our people, and shared interests, the valuable interests that Israel and the United States share.”
“It will be demonstrated by the Jerusalem Declaration that will be signed by Prime Minister Lapid and President Biden that will basically reaffirm all the connections and all the agreements and all the components of US-Israel relations.”
“What we have here is a Democratic president coming to Israel, reaffirming the strength of the relations, reaffirming his support of Israel. Joe Biden calls himself a Zionist, I don’t need to give him grades as a Zionist. He is a true friend of Israel. That is a sign of the true bipartisan support that Israel enjoys in the US, from both Republicans and Democrats.”
