A 30-year-old new mother died of coronavirus in Emek Medical Center in northern Israel.

She had not been vaccinated.

The woman gave birth one week ago to a healthy baby girl, and was hospitalized following the birth in the center's coronavirus ward, in moderate condition. Her condition later deteriorated, leading to her death.

Since Monday, 19,985 Israelis have been diagnosed with coronavirus, the Health Ministry reported Wednesday evening. Of those, 6,780 were diagnosed Tuesday.

On Monday, 6% of coronavirus tests came back positive, but that number rose to 7.22% on Tuesday. Around Israel, 1,069 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, 678 of whom are in serious condition. A total of 238 are in critical condition, and 171 coronavirus patients are on ventilators.

Since the start of the pandemic, 7,260 Israelis have died of coronavirus, 50 of them since Monday. Monday itself saw 14 coronavirus deaths, while Tuesday had 26 and Wednesday has seen 10 coronavirus deaths so far.

Meanwhile, for the first time since the start of the fourth wave, the infection coefficient has dropped below 1.0, and currently stands at 0.95.
