The government will convene today, Sunday, and decide on the return of in-person instruction in the educational system system following the tight lockdown.

The ministerial committee for managing coronavirus in Israel on Saturday night approved via telephone vote the extension of the educational system's closure until Tuesday morning at 7:00a.m., a joint statement from the Prime Minister's Office, Health Ministry, and Transportation Ministry said.

According to the plan, the educational system will operate for children in kindergarten, grades 1-4 and 11-12, in "green" and "yellow" cities.

In "orange" and "red" cities, those returning to studies will be divided into two groups that will study alternately, and the studies will take place in the open air only.

The Health Ministry opposes a more significant return to studies in the near future, at least not before it concludes that morbidity numbers have significantly decreased.

However, the committee canceled the requirement for dormitory students to remain in their dorms for at least 30 days, as well as the ban on students arriving at their dormitories if they have spent time in a home other than their own.
