The State Attorney’s Office filed an indictment with the Beersheba District Court against Ahmad Abu Mahareb, 20, from Lakiya, after he posted content on his Instagram account inciting terrorism and expressing identification with terrorist organizations. The content included posts praising Hamas and its senior officials, terrorist attacks and terrorists, as well as calls for jihad and attacks against Jews.
According to the indictment, Abu Mahareb had approximately 1,300 followers on his private Instagram account, and during 2025 and 2026 he shared content containing praise, support and encouragement for acts of terrorism, as well as content expressing identification with terrorist organizations.
Among other things, Abu Mahareb recently shared a video containing an excerpt from a speech by Mohammed Deif on the morning of October 7, 2023, in which he announced the launch of the terrorist attack against Israel and called for participation in jihad and the “liberation of the Al-Aqsa Mosque." In another post, he shared a video showing terrorist Uday Tamimi carrying out a shooting attack, accompanied by a description of the attacks he had perpetrated and the words: “They searched for him, and he came out to them inside their own home."
In additional posts, Abu Mahareb shared content featuring Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar alongside a speech in which he praised martyrdom, photographs of senior Hamas officials bearing the caption “Jihad - victory or martyrdom," as well as a video containing calls for jihad and the destruction of Tel Aviv.
According to the indictment, through these posts Abu Mahareb published expressions of praise, support or encouragement for acts of terrorism, support for or identification with such acts, under circumstances in which, given their content and the circumstances of their publication, there was a real possibility that they could lead to acts of terrorism. Some of the posts also form the basis for charges of identification with a terrorist organization.
