Tensions between Moscow and the West have sharply escalated after the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a direct threat to strike British military targets.
In an official statement released Thursday, Russia said the threat was a response to what it described as “strikes in Ukraine using British weapons." Moscow warned that its response “may be reflected in strikes on British military facilities, in Ukraine and beyond."
The warning comes alongside reports of a significant expansion of Russia’s military infrastructure near its borders with Ukraine and Belarus. According to The Telegraph, an analysis of satellite imagery and leaked documents indicates that Russia has established a network of 10 new bases and launch sites in the region.
The network reportedly includes at least 59 dedicated launch tracks, some designed to operate advanced jet-powered unmanned aircraft. With an estimated range of around 1,000 kilometers, the drones could potentially reach targets deep inside NATO member states, putting major European cities, including Warsaw, within striking distance.
