Prime Minister and Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to appoint Hadar Muchtar as head of the party's youth campaign headquarters.
"Hadar, 24, holds a master's degree in computer science, is a graduate of the IDF's Unit 8200, and is an opinion leader who will contribute greatly to the campaign," a statement said.
Muchtar became involved in politics in recent years, working over the past year to run in the Likud primaries. She is well known on social media, where she has frequently clashed with left-wing activists over their views.
Initially, Muchtar had hoped that she would be allowed to run in the Likud primaries, but Netanyahu did not approve her request to shorten the required waiting period.
On Wednesday, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir informed Muchtar that she will not be given a spot on the Otzma Yehudit slate for the upcoming Knesset elections. In a conversation between the two, Ben Gvir expressed appreciation for Muchtar but made clear that, at this stage, she would not be joining the party's slate.
Muchtar's representatives shot back: "Hadar Muchtar has no desire to be in Ben Gvir's party or in any other party except Likud. None of the spins will help. Hadar Muchtar is in Likud and will remain in Likud, and with G-d's help, sooner or later she will be a Knesset member on behalf of Likud."
